About Us
Woodlands Childcare Centre Ltd is an award-winning setting, based on the site of Waunceirch Primary School in Bryncoch.
In 2021 we moved into our new purpose built building where we offer child-led learning in an open plan room offering activities that cover all aspects of the Early Years curriculum. We also have a lovely outdoor space for children to enjoy in all weathers. Woodlands Childcare where children learn the natural way!
Our Sessions
All of our sessions give children the opportunity for free child-led play to be curious and explore their interests. The outdoor area is 'free flow' and children can choose to play indoors or outdoors throughout the sessions.
We offer a variety of sessions covering different parts of the day from 7:30am to 6pm (term time) such as Before School Club, Wrap-around sessions, After School Club and daily Flying Start sessions.
Our Story
Words from our founder – Nic Manley
Croeso, I absolutely love children, I think they are amazing and I have always wanted to work with children. I am an experienced Primary school teacher and have been teaching since 1998. In 2005 I made the decision to be a full time mum. This decision has given me a wonderful insight into how children develop from birth.
This knowledge led me to organising Parent and Toddler groups in local Primary schools, being an Educational Consultant for the Welsh Government’s program ‘Bookstart’ and delivering training sessions about multi-sensory play and early literacy. In 2014, having raised my own two children, I decided to use my teaching background and passion to establish my own childcare setting. I opened Once Upon a Time Childcare in Tonna, based at Tonna Primary School.
Woodlands Childcare
Following the success of Once Upon a Time, in 2017 I opened Woodlands Childcare, based at Waunceirch Primary School. Initially sharing the school’s Nursery classroom, we rapidly outgrew the space due to our success and new premises were needed.
With a successful bid for funding from the Welsh Government, in 2020 our new Woodlands home was built. Since 2021 Woodlands Childcare Centre has continued to thrive and is now a large part of the community. Having already achieved the Welsh Government’s Flying Start ‘Flagship’ setting award, highlighting our passion to give every child a ‘flying start’.
